Annabel Thornton, (nee Bateman) age 99 was peacefully called home by her Lord on December 26, 2014. She was a resident of Pitman Manor for the last nine years. Annabel was a quiet, caring, independent woman who had little, but gave very much. Annabel was very religious and devoted to her family. She is preceded in death by husband Newton, a son Gerald, sister June Leonard, a brother Frank Bateman. She is survived by a sister Genemarie Mitchell, daughters Marjorie Kean-Tripp (Lee), Sandra Ann Kolinofsky (George), a son Richard (Ruth). Annabel is also survived by eight grandchildren, sixteen great grand-children, and one great-great grandchild. Annabel was born in Oil City, PA and was raised in Salamanca, New York. She was a resident of Glassboro, New Jersey and Henryville, PA for many years.
Relatives and friends are invited to visit with family on Wednesday, December 31, 2014 at the Smith Funeral Home, 47 Main Street, Mantua, New Jersey.
A local service will be held at Barnett Funeral Home, 207 E. 4th Street, Emporium, PA on Friday at 11:00 AM with Pastor Frank Kean, her grandson, officiating. Calling hours one hour prior. Internment will follow at Newton Cemetery, Emporium PA.
